Hi all, this post is mainly to alert the Dutchies among you to my crowdfunding for a new book with short comics about science - and for the non-Dutchies: I have a few translated comics in this newsletter that I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
I’ve always enjoyed making comics about science. In 2012, my 192-page graphic novel Science, a Discovery in Comics was published. It attracted the attention of the editors of popular-science magazine Wetenschap in Beeld, and that’s how I got to make monthly comic strips for them. This was the first one, in 2016:
After a few episodes, I asked if I could have a little more space - so the format updated to this slightly higher strip (I’ve always been known for cramming my comics full of info):
And now these comics, all 89 of them, will be collected in an album! I’m so excited! This is the placeholder cover:
…although I’ll probably change it completely and use another title. Maybe ‘Eureka’…?
The crowdfunding campaign has just started and has reached 33% in two days already! Four more weeks to go. It promises to be a wild ride again.
So if you read Dutch and you want to know much, pre-order my book through Voordekunst.nl!
As a preview, here’s one of my personal favorites, about the Rorschach test:
Did you click the crowdfunding link yet?
(and here’s the Rorschach comic in its original format:)
The Rorschach comic is SIDE-SPLITTING, Margreet! 🤣 So excited for you about het nieuwe boek! Uitstekend! 🙌
Your comic history (no pun intended) is so neat and I love your work. Congrats on the collection of comics all under one roof aka cover. Very exciting, indeed!
