A wonderful wedding

on a windy island

My best friend from high school, Mimi, got married to her Gijs yesterday! I had the honor to draw their wedding invitation:

It’s full of significant symbols: the saucepan, the robin, the farm house, the meandering paths leading to new horizons. In the borders I drew Mimi’s children, who each gave their blessing to this union.

I also “used” Mimi, Gijs and the kids for my latest Reverend de Heer comic:

The actual wedding was not that heavily Lord of the Rings-themed - but it was absolutely lovely, in their garden on the island of Texel, during that one sunny spell in between gales of rain (hail, even!) and a feisty northern wind.

All of the best of luck to them! This was a wonderful start of a union full of love, good food and many movie nights.
