It’s my birthday!
Singing!
In The Netherlands, whenever someone has a birthday we sing this song:
Loosely translated:
Someone is having a birthday
We can all see that it's YOU (me! me! me!)
That makes us all so happy yes yes
And that's why we sing full of glee:
May you live long, hurrah hurrah (4x)
Long will she live, long will she live in the glory (2x)
Hipperdepip HURRAY (3x)
Treats!
There’s also the tradition that the Birthday Pig (Yes, that’s how the Dutch call the Birthdayer: ‘verjaardagsvarken’) hands out treats. I’m treating everyone to my comics on Philosophy, starting today! Here’s the first episode:
Pics!
Here’s a picture of me from the Olden Days when I was still a spritely 51 (last week), next to Salvador Dali when he was roughly the same age:
And here’s one from a little bit before that…:
I’ll be celebrating the whole of the coming week, with cake with my husband and girlfriend, a sketch session with wonderful colleagues, a concert with my dad, and a horrormovienight with our posse of friends.
Let the festivities begin!
Happy belated birthday!!
Gefeliciteerd! 🥳
