My stepdaughter Ellen got married to her Ernestas last Saturday!
I have known Ellen since she was six years old and I have drawn many, many comics about her when she was a child. The longest one was for her ninth birthday, called ‘Riddle of Nine’, which was also a Sandman-tribute (I’ve been a fan of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman since the 1990s):
In total, the comic was 27 pages long and I posted it online in 2004, where it got a bit viral when Neil Gaiman himself linked to it from his blog, calling it “the bee’s knees”! (I had to look that one up; so stoked!)
Still kinda proud of this one.
But not as proud as I am of Ellen and Ernestas, who totally did their own thing on their wedding, in a field in Lithuania, surrounded by friends and loved ones from no less than four countries!
I was honored to officiate and provide some drawings:
Ah, how time flies!
How good it is to see children grow up and find their own way in life!
Ellen totally has stayed the same brave girl I drew her as in the comic, and now she has the perfect companion to tackle the world with. (and the perfect cat!)
Wishing good adventures and all riddles solved for the two of the sixth of the seventh!
Good luck, 'Little Ellen in Wonderland'!
